Dark Side of the Moon

· 118 words

The Dark Side of the Moon holds up. It’s one of those things where the meme doesn’t devour the original. I recommend listening to their album before DSOTM. In some ways, the whole album stems from “Careful with the Axe Eugene” (the bass line, the ancient crooning scream, etc.). Their hit album was an elevated aesthetic from their prior album with added auto-biographical lore (about Syd's mental illness).

My favoriate live recording of theirs:

Pink Floyd - Embryo: San Diego 1971

  1. Careful With That Axe, Eugene
  2. Fat Old Sun
  3. Embryo
  4. Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun
  5. Cymbaline
  6. Bluesy Improv/ Jam
