Poetry and Logging
Poetry and logging have a lot of similar ideas. When I’m logging, I’m on my phone, and it’s harder to write prose, and so I’m often just writing a free-association stream of words, images, and reference phrases, without really connecting them through syntax. It’s not about crafting legible prose, but generating a word cloud for my future self. The idea is, from this cloud, you have the material to weave into a different format, whether prose or poetry.
I think there’s value in writing in full sentences at the point of thought (it helps make prose automatic), but I also think there’s a frontier to explore in writing pages of gook.
